Power BI Report Builder - Teradata DataSource Connection

The Build field is greyed out when Teradata is selected. What is a connection string that should be given.

Report Builder Version Installed  - 15.6.01487.0002

System Requirements - .NET Framework 4.7.2 but unable to install.

Error Message - .NET Framework 4.7.2 or a later update is already installed on this computer.

Is .NET Framework causing this? If so how can I force install 4.7.2?

I have installed Developer pack but didn't fix.

Please help me fix this

    Hi,

Kindly shed some light on the following if you know

    1. Firstly, why is the Build field greyed out when I select Teradata?

    2. If that is how it is supposed to behave, will the Build field be enabled like for other Microsoft family of Data Sources if I give a correct connect string?

    3. I have given the connection string as Data Source = IP address (xxx.xx.x.xxx this corresponds to our enterprise teradata ip address) I get the following error

Additional Info: I was not able to connect to Teradata from Power BI Desktop. So I installed latest .Net Data Provider 17.00.02.00 and used this command setx PBI_EnableTeradataLdap true. And thenit authenticated through Ldap and now I am able to connect to Teradata from Power BI Desktop

Is there some kind of workaround for Power BI Report Builder?

Also in the system requirements for Power BI Report Builder, it says Microsoft.Net Framework 4.7.2 required. I don't have this version but I have 4.8. I hope it should be backward compatible. Is this something that is causing the issue? If yes, I am unable to install 4.7.2 as it errors out a later version of 4.7.2 is already installed.

  • if you have 4.8 then that is sufficient. Supposedly it is backwards compatible.
