Power BI Report Builder - Oracle Connection Issue

Power BI Report Builder Version: v15.7.1800.11

Issue: "The selected data extension ORACLE is not installed or cannot be loaded. Verify that the 64-bit version of the selected data extension is installed on the client for local reports and on the report server for published reports."

Oracle version 11 series: (11.2.0.4)

I've gone through the page in this link that we dont need to do the steps given there for ODAC version below 12.

Oracle Connection Type (SSRS & Power BI Report Server) - SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) | Micr...

I already installed 64 bit ODAC component for the above oracle version and can currently connect to the db using power BI desktop. But, not sure why Power BI Report builder is giving this issue ? Appreciate if you could share your ideas on how to resolve this issue.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous ,

This error usually occurs in the following cases:

  • You didn't install Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio and ODP.NET.

  • You have already installed an incorrect ODAC version that doesn't match the correct Oracle Database Version.

Install the appropriate version for "ODAC, ODP.NET and Oracle Developer Tools" based on your Oracle database server.

  • ODAC 18.3 (Oracle 11g Release 2 or later)

See more: SSRS: The selected data extension ORACLE is not installed or cannot be loaded.
