Hello all, i have a power bi report link to a number of sharepoint excel files. the scheduled refresh times are very inconcistant, sometimes 2 mins, sometimes up to an hour.
what could coause this? if the report was poorly optimised would it not always take an hour to refresh?

Hi @NewbieJono ,
Please make sure which capacity are your workspace in, shared capacity or premium capacity (gen1/gen2)?
As far as I know, there are limitations on memory, model refresh parallelism and so on.
For shared capacity and premium gen1:
If there are multiple refresh in your tenant at the same time, there will be a heavy workload at this time. Your refresh will wait for the previous refresh to complete before it will be refreshed. So you will find your refresh time is not fixed.
Here I suggest you to try premium gen2. In gen2 capacity, there will be no model refresh parallelism and memory at the same time any more. Each refresh will be assigned to the resources that your current SKU has.
