Power BI Project files and Composite Models

I've converted our pbix files to Power BI Project (pbip) files in order to leverage source control with Git and Azure DevOps.  Several of my models in the pbix format are composite models.  When doing an initial pull from the workspace, the composite models in the pbip format now reference the direct query dataset directly so changes to the dataset in what was the composite model changes the underlying model.

How can I convert the direct reference to the source data model back to a direct query?

Thank you for your help.

Hi @JeffTrevorJones ,

Firstly I think you can open the PBIP file that contains the composite model. Then you can go to the Model view and identify the tables that are directly referencing the dataset.

Select the table that is currently in Import mode.

In the Properties pane, change the Storage Mode to DirectQuery.

You can also go to Power Query and edit the Advanced Editor.
