Helper IIIPower BI Premium Case
Hello,
I have been tasked to look into the Advantages of upgrading to PowerBI Premium.
Right now we have 188 Pro Licences currently assigned. We probably will have 300 "builders" but there will be over 2000 people in the company that would be consuming
Can people in the company without Pro Licences see Reports the people with Pro licences Created?
We plan on using Snowflake to house our Data and using a DirectQuery to pull into PBI. Would this make Premium not really worth it? I get confused with the talk about the Size of reports and Storage.
Can someone View a Report on their Mobile device using PBI App without a Pro Licence?
What other Advantages are there?
#1 - Yes nonpro users will able to view the reports created by the Pro license, as far as reports are sitting premium workspace. Don't get confused with pro license, sharing with nonpro users is dependent on workspace (if it is on premium or not). Pro is only they can develop and publish the reports to the workspace.
#2 - the biggest driver for someone to go to premium is either they have large dataset that cannot fit in Power BI pro (1GB limit), or they need other features like a paginated report and 3rd reason is the number of users, after 500 pro users, it is almost better to have premium rather than paying per month license fee. In your case, the driver is # of consumers which is approx. 2300 (2000 + 300), since you are using DQ to the snowflake, dataset size is not a requirement/issue for you.
#3 - yes, same if the workspace is on premium and user has permission, nonpro user can see the contents.
#4 - as I said with the premium you get more data to refresh a day (no advantage for you since you are doing DQ), you get Report builder (paginated reports) and many more features (see below), you get XMLA endpoint

But because the consumers can see everything Pro users are creating with a "Free Account" without having a Pro account themselves we would only have to pay for 300 Pro Licences then have the other 2000 as free users. COrrect? Or am i thinking about this incorrectly?

As I said if you have 500+ consumers, the premium is already a candidate for it, as simple as it gets and your users count is much bigger. I hope it helps.
