Power BI Getway Download Issue

Dear Opwer BI Forum Team,

I have two questions please:

Screenshot 2024-11-08 232727.png

Screenshot 2024-11-08 233608.png

1/ I have an issue in downloading on-premises data Gateway to be able to connect it with power bi to creat Dataflows. The thring that first it is not downlding, my Windows is 11 Pro, version 22H2 and the RAM Capacity is (7.79 out of 8). So does the capacity plays an issue for the dowanloading thing ?

2/ I have downloaded SQL Server Express Edition 2022 -which is the latest- and it is successfully done, but to finish it I have to install the SSMS and once I click to the button, it takes me to the page were I can download the latest version of it which is Microsoft SQL Server  Management Studio (20.2), and unfortunitly, it says that the setup is failed. I want to connect the SQL with my desktop Power BI to be able to doawnload a backup of adventurework data of 2022-2020-2016.

I have attached a screenshot of the SQL issue in this message as well as for the Getway one.

Thanks for your advanced help.

Best Regards,

Deema1

Hi @Deema1

Thank you very much rajendraongole1 for your prompt reply.

It looks like you're encountering the message "No action was taken as a system reboot is required" during your SSMS installation. This typically means that the installer detected that a restart is necessary to complete previous updates or installations.

Please try the following:

Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can clear up pending operations that are blocking the installation.

Check for Pending Updates: After restarting, check if there are any Windows updates that need to be installed. Go to Settings > Update & Security and ensure everything is up to date.

Run the Installer Again: After confirming that your system is updated and restarted, try running the SSMS installer again, preferably as an administrator.

Clear Temporary Files: If the issue persists, clear your temporary files again. You can do this by typing %temp% in the Run dialog (Win + R) and deleting the files in that folder.

How to fix "No action was taken as a system reboot is required. [ERROR_FAIL_NOACTION_REBOOT (0x15E)]...

Hi @Deema1 -  The gateway requires a minimum of 8 GB RAM, so your system’s capacity (7.79 GB available) might be a factor. To check the minimum requirements, visit Microsoft's gateway documentation.

1.Using a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
2.Downloading from a different network (if possible) to rule out network restrictions.
3.Disabling any VPN or firewall temporarily to see if that allows the download.

SSMS:

Download SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) - SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) | Microsoft Learn

Run as Administrator: Right-click the SSMS installer and choose "Run as administrator". This often resolves permission-related installation issues.
Clear Temporary Files: Sometimes, corrupt temporary files can interfere with installation. Clear your temporary files by running Disk Cleanup on your system or clearing the %temp% folder.
Check for Pending Windows Updates: Windows updates can sometimes block installations until the system is fully updated. Make sure your system is up to date, especially if you recently updated to Windows 11.
Download Compatibility: Verify that the SSMS version you’re downloading is compatible with your system. The latest SSMS (20.2) should be compatible with SQL Server Express 2022, but if you continue having issues, consider downloading an earlier stable version of SSMS.
Installation Log: When the installation fails, there’s usually a log file that can give more detailed information about what caused the failure. Look for an error log in your system’s temp folder (%temp%) or check the last few lines of any installation error message to identify the issue.

Hope this information helps.

Dear Power BI Forum Team, I am writing this email expressing about the issue number 2, which is the failure of installing the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), I have tried all the below mentioned solutions of freeing up the %temp files, rechecked the windows updates if there are any, and the storage and unwanted applications. All has not worked even when I have changed the browser to download it, but the running is failure even when I right click and run it as an administration. Whenever it asks me for restarting or repairing the application setup is not work. I have attached to the latest of this issue, hope I can get more detailed about what is going on to resolve this problem, and when I clicked on the (Click here for the log file) there is a coding that does not show the solution to resolve the issue.
