Power BI Filter Value to Data Source to populate data

Good Day Community,

Its my first time posting so I hope I get this right.

I'm creating my first Power BI report and came to a road block.

I have a data source that populated from a SQL Server Database using a Stored Procedure that has a parameter.  I would like to insert the parameter value for the stored procedure based on the users selection of year on the visualization.

How do I pass the visual filter to the stored procedure parameter and get the data and visual to refresh?

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi, you can't. After data is refreshed (loaded from SQL) you can't pass anything via a slicer.

You have to either use DirectQuery but that won't help you with a stored procedure or import "all" the relevant data with a year field and add this field as a slicer.
