Power BI Desktop unable to launch after update

Anyone having same problem? i downloaded the latest version, installed and restarted pc. now the PowerBI desktop would not launch 😞

I have the same issue. I used Power BI Desktop for 5 months without a problem. After downloading the latest version of the program I cannot launch it anymore. Tried to launch with Administrative rights, switched off all antivirus and protection programs, repaired, deleted, reinstalled, no change. I am not getting any error message, just the icon of PBI after a second dissapears from the system tray. Seems many users have the same problem. Any reasonable suggestions?

It appears there may be a problem with the current 2.38.4491.642 version, namely PBIDesktop_x64.msi.  I uninstalled this version and installed PBIDesktop.msi, and Power BI now launches.

I found I had  issues after the updated. It seems the automatic update (from the in-program 'click here to download') only seems to download the 32-bit, even if you are running 64-bit. I had to go back through the website to download the 64-bit only for it to work.

I had another colleague experience the same issues, which were resolved by manually downloading the 64-bit from the website.

@zante I did not face any such issue with Desktop tool. Try downloading setup again and uninstall the current setup and install again. Hope this will fix!

Thanks, uninstalled, then installed again and restarted. now working 😄
