Power BI Desktop install on a Server 2016 RDS Farm

Hi All,

We have a client that wants the power bi desktop app to be available for all users in their remote desktop session.

Is it possible to install the app to be used in a RDS server farm environment? I didn't see Server 2016 in the compatibility list.

"Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1"

Thanks!

Tony

      Hi,

Thanks very much for the info!

I checked with the client and apparently all they want is for the users to be able to access published reports,

Sound like they don't need the desktop app then or have I misunderstood?

        Hi Anonymous ,

If you just want to access published report, you could use powerbi service, you could share report to users, then when they login the app.powerbi.com, they will view the report. You could refer to power-bi-service-overview  and service-how-to-collaborate-distribute-dashboards-reports  for details. The report desktop app is used to create report and publish report.

        Best Regards,
