Power BI Desktop is clearly not a native Windows application and made with web technologies (Electron I think). Therefore you might that porting it to macOS and/or Linux isn't hard to do.
Does anybody now if this is something Microsoft is planning to do?
its so dissapointing that microsoft is not making mac version of power bi, is it so hard to create a mac version? then i suggest microsoft to please hire good developers to do that. Please create a mac version i am frustrated with using power bi on a vm
There is no linux version of Power BI Desktop. The only "work around" would be to use a windows virtual machine either on a local VM or using one of the cloud providers.
There is an Idea out there but it is Not Planned. https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/7546645-power-bi-designer-for-mac
@Anonymous , This is a page for what is new and planned

I doubt, I do not see your idea there.
