Power BI Desktop deployed via Citrix having issues

I have had many problems using Power BI Desktop through a Citrix environment. This has happened at my last two clients- one a Fortune 100 company.

A few examples of issues:

  • Power BI crashing
  • Very slow data load
  • Power BI Slicers are completely blank sometimes
  • Power BI Visuals are sometimes blank
  • Random errors
  • Some Features not working
  • etc.

Anything that did not populate in Desktop through Citrix would work fine outside of Citrix in Desktop, or in Power BI Service once published.

The issues were so bad at the Fortune 100 company that they eventually had to move Power BI Desktop out of Citrix and allow the database connections outside the Citrix environment.

I'm now having similar issues at another client of random issues with Power BI Desktop through Citrix. Has anyone else experienced issues like these? Any thoughts on this problem, outside of just moving Desktop out of Citrix?

Current Citrix Receiver is version 4.9.0.2539

Thanks!

@Anonymous,

Please move Power BI Desktop out of Citrix. Citrix is not currently supported, Power BI Desktop writes to local drives (logs, cached data, etc) which is not allowed by Citrix.  Please vote up the following idea.
