Power BI Desktop crashes after start after latest update

Hi

After latest update, my power BI desktop crahses (terminates without any error message) right after starting.

I ave tried uninstalling and installing again with same result. 10/10 times it will load the program, stay in the "start screen" and then terminate after around 10 seconds.

Any input? - thanks!

Hi @Rapullioo ,

  1. Check for WebView2 Runtime: Power BI Desktop relies on the Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime. If this component is not up to date or missing, it can cause Power BI Desktop to crash. You can download and install the latest version of WebView2 from the official Microsoft Edge WebView2 installation page.

  2. Review Crash Dump or Trace Files: As mentioned in the Power BI Desktop DirectQuery troubleshooting documentation, Power BI Desktop logs events to a trace file which can be useful for diagnosing issues. Navigate to > > > and click on the "Open crash dump/traces folder" link to investigate the cause of the crash. Look for any recent files that could indicate what's going wrong.
