Power BI Desktop Update Monthly
Actually, the August update was originally released on August 24th, 2016 as per this blog post:
https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-august-feature-summary/
So, I am guessing that there was enough feedback or some bugs were found that they released an update "bug fix" version of it. I believe that I am still running the original August update, 2.38.4491.282. With the build count only going up in last decimal area, this also seems to indicate that the most recent version is simply bug fixes.
Anonymous's right I'm pretty sure they released it in September as (August 2016)
you can of course check the Advanced Download Options here
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45331
Also 10 days or so after each month's main release they do an update which you can find at the above
So latest version is => 2.38.4491.642 Published on 9/15//2016
Are you expecting anything specific in the month's release?

Weird, you can only see that August release if you filter the blog to the announcements category. The main blog timeline doesn't show it.

Go to the blog page and look in the black heading area with the picture background. Trust me, it's driven me nuts trying to find it only to realize it is staring me in the face the whole time... :)
