Power BI Desktop Update 9-16-2018 Crash

After updating Power BI Desktop from version 9-1-2018 to 9-16-2018 my system was not stable anymore and crashed every time. I was using the same file as before. At the end I removed the new update and I installed the old (previous) version and the system was stable again.

The problems I had with the new update was;

- Crashing the computer and I had to reset the computer

- Sometimes I got the message: Microsoft.Mashup.Container.NetFX45.exe failure

- Sometimes I got the message: System.OutOfMemoryException (I have 8GB RAM running at aprox. 50-60% capacity)

- Hard error

What should I do if I want to go for the next update?????

Hi @Boudewijn,

Could you please check if below information?

  1. What operations have you done with your pbix file after you have updated the version?
  2. Is the error occurs in all the file or occurs in just some file?
  3. If the connection of these files is  'import', could you please share the pbix file to have a test if possible?
  4. If your Power BI Desktop is 32-bit version, I suggest you use the 64-bit version.

Also, you could refer to below information:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/power-bi-reports-performance#deep-dive-into-query-performa...

1. After updating the version, I have only load the pbix file to view the reports.

2. I have tried 2 files (0,6MB and 1,3MB), both ending up in a crash.

3. The connection imports XML files. The file contains confidential financial data, I can't send it.

4. I used the 64-bit version

Should I install the SQL Sever Profiler on my Desktop?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Boudewijn
