However I now want to change DATA Source of UAE core to another pre built dataset

luisClive_2-1605510495144.png

I am able to do that  easily

However when i publish  i get Another copy of "UAE Core"

main idea is i want to REPLACE Report "UAE Core" without LOSING EXISTING BI Link/url?

How can i do that?

Hi @Anonymous ,

The same workspace is not allowed to contain reports with the same name.

So are you sure that the two reports are named exactly the same?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Is your procedure like this?
1. Replace the data source of the local .pbix file.
2. Republish the .pbix file.
3. You find that a copy of the original data set is generated in the Service?

I think the possible reason is that you changed the name of the .pbix file. Therefore, the original data set is not replaced in the Service.

If possible, delete the copy directly.

Best regards,
Lionel Chen

Is your procedure like this?

1. Replace the data source of the local .pbix file  ( is replace data source with an existing Bi Dataset)
2. Republish the .pbix file. (yes)
3. You find that a copy of the original data set is generated in the Service? ( yes another copy with exact same name)

@Anonymous , you published a report with the same name in the same workspace. Also, refer if this can help

Yes i did that

But it publishes another copy with same name

I am able to do "normal" replace when using  a new "dataset" ( both dataset and report have same name)

However in this case the dataset iam trying use is a pre built dataset of another report

As i mentioned the key thing iam trying to achieve is "retain existing url/link"

I will review the blog post you sent
