Power BI Desktop Report Visuals Refresh Issue

Hi PowerBI Community,

I would appreciate your help/expertise. This board is incredibly useful so thanks for reading. This is my first post so hopefully I am explaining this clearly. 

I'm unable to refresh the visuals in a Power Desktop report. 

The refresh will run and display as if all the rows have been added.

Note: Stock photo used due to client confidentiality.

But the refresh process will not stop and cannot be cancelled. I am unable to Cancel or even close the report. I have to shut down Power BI using Task Manager.

I can refresh this report in Power Query. Other similar reports refresh without any issues in Power BI Desktop and Service.

I have tested by refreshing each table individually and using 'Refresh All' in Power Query and both work. 

This is an on prem SQL Server data source. Manual refresh. Not scheduled.

Here are a few things I have tried.: 

1. Clear cache in options. (No change)
2. Checked memory usage. Less than 1/3rd of available memory (No change)
3. Checked report size to see if this exceeded the license. (279MB)
4. Tested data gateway connections to the on prem SQL Server. (No issues there)

I am running out of ideas.

Could someone pls provide feedback on other tests or on how this issue can be fixed?
