Power BI Desktop Latency after 18/03/2025 Update

Power BI desktop is taking long time to create new column using lookup function, measure creation etc after the 18/03/2025 update. Data source is Excel file from sharepoint. Thanks

Possible reasons for the same can be: 

1. Update Bugs: New updates sometimes introduce bugs or performance issues.
2. Cache Issues: Power BI Desktop caching might not be functioning optimally.
3. DAX Performance Issues: Complex DAX formulas or heavy use of LOOKUP can slow things down.
   
   

You can try using some troubleshooting steps: 

• Check Performance Analyzer:

  • Go to View > Performance Analyzer and start recording while performing the slow operations.
  • Check for long-running DAX queries or visuals.

• Simplify DAX Formulas:

  • Avoid heavy LOOKUPVALUE functions or iterators.
  • Consider using MERGE operations in Power Query instead of LOOKUPVALUE.

• Clear Cache:

  • Go to File > Options and settings > Data Load > Clear Cache.
  • Restart Power BI Desktop.
