Hello,
we have a very big Dashboard, which get it's data from one single report and dataset. The pbix file is stored in an one drive for business group. The refresehd worked fine for 2 weeks via personal gateway. Suddenly the refresh failed. The dataset settings in powerbi.com refresh only shows "OneDrive-Refresh" we can't change back to gateway refresh. If we import the pbix. a 2nd time everything works fine, but the orginal file isn't replaced. So we stuck with an old dataset that we can't refresh.
Is their a way to switch the report and dashboard to a new dataset, because the old one seems to be corrupt.

I have replaced datasets in one drive by simply dragging the file (of the same name) into one drive (in my group). It will say the upload failed because the file name already exists but I simply choose to replace the data set. It replaces the dataset and then refreshes from that moving forward. That is actually how I bring in new measures.
Re importing a dataset creates a new link and will not connect to existing reports or dashboards.
Not sure why it switched refresh type, however, and even less sure if replacing the file will help. Have you tried updating your gateway?

Hi thanks for your hints. Yes the recent gatway version is installed.
Frustrated we tried to delete the broken dataset, but power bi says i can't be deleted!
If you delete it, the reports will go away.
Open your group files and replace the source file there. It is not the same as reimporting the data.
In your group, click the three dots by the group name. Select files. Replace the source file there then try to refresh again. Also, after replacing the file and attempting a refresh, see if the options have changed to allow gateway refresh.
Can you share a screen capture here of the data refresh page (schedule refresh) that shows where only One Drive refresh is available?
