Power BI Desktop

Microsoft Power BI

Hi   - This is known issues and it is likely related to the interaction between conditional formatting and theme files in Power BI.

There are two possible solutions:
- Update id's in theme file
- Remove id's in the theme file.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

It appears that the issue you're encountering with conditional formatting in button slicers in Power BI Desktop (May 2025 update) has been reported by other users as well. This seems to be a bug introduced in recent updates.

Many users have observed that conditional formatting such as changing text color based on a measure doesn’t persist after saving and reopening the file. This problem has been discussed in the Microsoft Fabric Community, with several reports of button slicer formatting not being retained.

While waiting for an official fix from Microsoft, here are a couple of workaround ideas

  1. Instead of button slicers, try using tables or cards where conditional formatting tends to be more reliable.
  2. If this issue is causing major disruptions in your work, consider rolling back to an earlier version of Power BI Desktop. Some users have found that previous versions didn’t have this problem.

Microsoft may address this issue in a future release. For the latest fixes and feature updates, refer to the official Power BI release notes:
