Power BI Charticulator Visual gone

Hi all,

today my custom visual made with Charticulator is gone - just blank are where the visual was placed, all fields gone, also charticulator icon is no longer under visuals on the right side panel.

It is pretty important daily report in the company so I would appreciate any comment or solution.

Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

After much trial and error, I have found a way to get the old MS Charticulator visual definitions working with the new Community versions.

Please be aware that there are 2 Community Versions:

    1. One is MS Certified – Charticulator Visual Community (View)
    2. One is *NOT* MS Certified - Charticulator Visual Community (Editor)

It seems that to be able to change the existing Viz from the old MS Charticulator to either of the new Community versions, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that you have the Options and settings -> Options -> Preview features -> on-object interaction Checked.
  2. Open your broken pbix that has the MS Charticulator visual.
  3. Download the  “Charticulator Visual Community (View)” community version of Charticulator.
  4. Click on the old Charticulator visual that is on your workspace
  5. Click the On-Object “Add Data and build your visual” icon
  6. You will see “Suggest a visual” drop-down.
  7. Toggle “Arrange data for me” from off to on.
  8. Click the “Charticulator Visual Community (View)” Visual in the drop-down box
  9. Fix the field assignments and click the confirm button

This is far from ideal but I have found this works for each of my reports so far.

May I please also ask which PBI version are you using?

My visal doesn't show the options besides it.

I guess you skipped the first step:

  1. Make sure that you have the Options and settings -> Options -> Preview features -> on-object interaction Checked.

you cannot change the viz without using the Preview Feature "on-object Interaction".

Hi,

procedure mentioned above returned the visual, but unfortunately sorting is not working right in the new charticulator.

After choosing different item from slicer, sort of the watefall chart breaks - I have Comparison actuality slicer which enables Actual results comparison in the waterfall with Budget and Last Year. Choosing different comparison puts Budget column in front of the category which shows effect.

Regards

Yes, I agree, it works but it is not ideal.

We ran into same problem today.   There's a new Charticulator community version available, but how to replace it?  Found a guy on Reddit who said he replaced the reportID in the file with the new community visual to fix it, but no clue how to do that.  Help !!!!

Hello I already solved it give in organize the data for me and then switch to the charticulator editor new

Can you explain in more detail how you solved the missing Charticulator ?

Of course,

1.- click on your blank box

victorhugo1733_0-1726247312243.png

2.- CLICK ON "ORGANIZE THE DATA FOR ME" (ORGANIZA LOS DATOS POR MI)

victorhugo1733_1-1726247369102.png

THEN CHOOSE THE NEW CHARTICULATOR EDITOR

Hdhd hdd ho to be in the other side callbzjs call you to be in the other day and the other day and the other side callbzjs call you

Can I please ask which Power BI version are you using? My version doesn't have the option of "Organise the data for me" to click on... Thanks

Sorry I just saw your comment, but I see that you already solved it and you posted it in a very descriptive way.

Hi, thanks for the advise how to bring back charticulator visual. However, new problem pop - sorting of x axis categories on the waterfall chart is not working anymore? Does anybody have the same problem? Looks like that it remembers only initial sorting, but when you change slicer selection sorting is not ok - I have a column in a model with integers that sorts label column and after changing slicer selection it is not sorted ascending as ti was before.

Thanks.

Hi, I have exactl;y the same issue; who thought this was the correct thing to do; just remove a visual and leave everyone to figure it out.

This is completely NUTS. Come on Microsoft; you can do much better than this.

Now, there is a new Coimmunity version but I guess that is different and that is why we get blank visuals. What we all need is for PBI to recognise that the old Charticulator is the same as the Communiuty version. As We have premium Support; I will escalate to MS.

You can make the community charticulator work on the PBI Desktop version, but it doesn't work on the Power BI service.  You can actually make it work in the PBI Service by downloading the editor or the view version and editing the dashboard in a Workspace, but it won't let you save your report, because charticulator is not a supported visual...

Hi! Have you found any solution for this issue? /Indeed, it works fine on PowerBI Desktop. But when I attempt to add the custom visual while editing the report on Service, I encounter an error again.

You will need to save the edited report locally and change the visual to the View version before publishing it. The "view" version is MS Certified.

I followed the steps again, and it works perfectly this way!
Initially, I replaced the old, non-working Charticulator with the new certified one by saving the report as a Project and modifying the JSON file. But this worked locally but didn't work on Service.
However, using the on-object method as you suggested, is much quicker and works perfectly fine on Service as well! Thanks a lot!
