Power BI Charticulator Visual gone
Hi All,
After much trial and error, I have found a way to get the old MS Charticulator visual definitions working with the new Community versions.
Please be aware that there are 2 Community Versions:
- One is MS Certified – Charticulator Visual Community (View)
- One is *NOT* MS Certified - Charticulator Visual Community (Editor)
It seems that to be able to change the existing Viz from the old MS Charticulator to either of the new Community versions, you need to follow these steps:
- Make sure that you have the Options and settings -> Options -> Preview features -> on-object interaction Checked.
- Open your broken pbix that has the MS Charticulator visual.
- Download the “Charticulator Visual Community (View)” community version of Charticulator.
- Click on the old Charticulator visual that is on your workspace
- Click the On-Object “Add Data and build your visual” icon
- You will see “Suggest a visual” drop-down.
- Toggle “Arrange data for me” from off to on.
- Click the “Charticulator Visual Community (View)” Visual in the drop-down box
- Fix the field assignments and click the confirm button
This is far from ideal but I have found this works for each of my reports so far.

Hi,
procedure mentioned above returned the visual, but unfortunately sorting is not working right in the new charticulator.
After choosing different item from slicer, sort of the watefall chart breaks - I have Comparison actuality slicer which enables Actual results comparison in the waterfall with Budget and Last Year. Choosing different comparison puts Budget column in front of the category which shows effect.
Regards

May I please also ask which PBI version are you using?
My visal doesn't show the options besides it.

I guess you skipped the first step:
- Make sure that you have the Options and settings -> Options -> Preview features -> on-object interaction Checked.
you cannot change the viz without using the Preview Feature "on-object Interaction".

Thank you so much for this solution it is very helpful. Found 10 of my visuals shows blank. Panic since i havent store the latest template.
I found this step is working for me:1. Get the Charticulator (view)
2. Select the blank visuals
3. select the On-Object "Add Data and build your visual" icon
4. click the "Arrange data for me"
5. Once you select data, PowerBI will select core visual automatically
6. Go to suggestions pane, click dropdown and select Charticulator(view)
7. Then go to Data Field Well, and rearrange your data according to your custom arrangement based on your old charticulator.
8. The charticulator visuals will automatically appears
