Please help, measure to limit interactive tooltips (.pbix attached)

Good day!

(link to .pbix: https://we.tl/t-U5hFEUtzoH)

Can you please help me with a question on interactive tooltips?

Simple data below for bar charts, that I want to apply interactive tooltips. The main visual (blue bars) has a filter on "Interest".

The wanted is, the interactive tooltip only show a specific (filtered) 'Interest' is chosen from Filter, i.e., if more than 1 interest are selected, show blank on the 'Interest' Card.

But now it only shows the First 'Interest'.

Background info:

1. A Tooltip page was created to show 2 info by Cards ('Interest' and 'Pupils').

2. A measure was created to check if 'Interest' is selected as a filter.

    (interest_if_selected = IF(ISFILTERED('Table'[Interst]),1,BLANK()))

On the Tooltip page, a measure is used as a filter to limit the display of Card text, i.e., if no 'Interest' is selected as filter on the main visual (blue bars), show no text on the Card.

However when the measure 'interest_if_selected' is placed in Filters, the drop-down 'Show items when the value' is not clickable.

What would be the solution to such? Thank you.

      Hi JohnnyK ,

Thank you for attaching the file. However, the desired output is missing, so I'm having trouble understanding what you want to achieve. Could you please ignore the formulas for a moment and just explain what you want to happen?

For example, if I am the user of the report and currently focused on the "North" bar, what should I see?

  • Ritaf1983, thanks again for your kind attention. Much appreciated!

"North" Dance pupil count is actually 23. The Tooltip shows 111. I want to have it corrected.

For example, if I am the user of the report and currently focused on the "North" bar, in the pop-up, I wish to see "(blank)" or "No Interest chosen", instead of "Dance". It's because there's no filter selected by the user (from the Filters).

When "Dance" is selected by the user (from the Filters), Tooltip shall show "Dance" and 23.

Much grateful to an advise and looking forward to helps. 🙂

      Hi JohnnyK

Hi, a tooltip is a floating window that is supposed to be on a page hidden from the user, and all its filters should come from the main graph. Therefore, if you want to give the user the option to filter a desired area of interest, it should be from the main graph and not from the tooltip. It doesn’t matter if it’s a filter/slicer or even another visualization with cross-filter settings.

  • thanks again for the follow-up and advises! You're amazing!

A solution is found from a post where replied on ‎05-17-2023, provided an useful referencehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEq7YtkxeLU

What I got is, in the Tooltip visual, "On" for "Keep all fitlers". (in my case) use a 1-column table instead of Card. Then the pop-up only shows the option(s) selected only (instead of all).
