Please Help - Analytics Pane showing Options from Formatting pane

I'm working on a scatter plot and I need to add in an average line or a median line on each axis.  It works fine sometimes, but sometimes when I have the chart selected and I click on the icon for analytics I get the options that should be showing under the formatting pane.  I can't figure out why it is doing this, so I can find a solution other than closing PBI desktop and reopening - which is annoying.
