Pivot using Date slicer/parameter
I have a pivot table I created using 2 fields. I would like to use a slicer so a date range can be requested. I dont know if this is possible since a date field is not part of the pivot. I am new to ...

I remove columns, including the date column, before I create the pivot. Can I leave the date field in, create the pivot? Can I create a pivot once I get to the report/visual area?
Since I am new, I dont know how to keep the date in the table but out of the pivot. Can you explain how I can do this?
