Passing variables to PowerBI Report via URL

I'd like to pass three variables to a PowerBI Report using a URL. 

For example: http://<PowerBIReportURL> Variable1: xyz, Variable2: 12, Varaible3: abc

1) What is the appropriate syntax for the URL with the variables?

2) Within PowerBI, how do I access those variables so that they can be displayed within a text box or other visual control ?

@vsslasd1 I don;t think you can value to Parameter (I guess when you refer to parameter it is Power query parameter)

Thank you, I am still struggling with this - I'm not trying to utilize a filter, I'm actually just trying to pass parameters to my PBI Report, so it's slightly different.
