Pass dynamic URL from table row to external site
Hi,
I’m working on a requirement where I need to create a table visual in Power BI. The customer would like each row to be a clickable link that redirects to a website, with the corresponding item pre-filtered.
Any suggestion to achieve this.
Hi AnkitaaMishra,
Yes, Create a calculated column in your data model that generates a dynamic URL with the filter parameter.
e.g.
ItemURL =
"https://yourwebsite.com/search?item=" & [ItemID]-
In your table visual, add this
ItemURLcolumn. -
In Model view → Column properties, mark this column as Data Category → Web URL.
-
In the table visual, you can then set the column formatting to display as a clickable link.

- Create a calculated column with a dynamic URL using DAX:
DynamicURL = "https://site.com/report?filter=Table/Field eq '" & [Item] & "'"Set the column’s Data Category to Web URL.
- Add it to your table visual and enable URL icon in formatting.
- Optionally, use a label like “View Details” with conditional formatting.
