Parameterize Reports in power BI

  • 1) Parameterize Reports:

I am trying to eliminate number of records which are fetching from DB ”8,000,000 records” by using

Parameter on Filter method like this example,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiKtgTkj8wk

So user should do "Refresh" & enter new value to the Param everytime he want to chnage it.

  • BUT after deployment on the server I surprised end-user can`t change parameter value !!

It`s only fixed as I selected before.

  • After some research on this common issue seems like there are no solution for it !

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/change-parameter-values-on-PowerBI-Online/m-p/239009#M30786

Currently, you can't use Query Parameter on Power BI Service.!!

  • Therefore, The only way I am following now which are not professional is : accumulating URL with “filter=table/field eq ‘value

Note:

After I export pbi report into template “PBIT”,

I can`t uploaded into the server.

Kindly advice,

Hi @Anonymous ,

I could not understand:

"After I export pbi report into template “PBIT”,

I can`t uploaded into the server."

Based on my test, I could export a PBIT but if you want to publish to service, it should be saved as a pbix.

Also, you could refer to below link:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-url-filters
