  • Hi Anonymous  -In Power BI Report Builder, go to Report DataData Sources → Check if the connection string is valid. If using a direct connection to Analysis Services, ensure that the server name and credentials are correct.

reconfigure the above and let's see.

    Hope this works.

    Hi Anonymous

The error message indicates: "The definition of the report is invalid or the report cannot be found. The Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportProcessing.ReportProcessingException: Query execution failed for dataset 'DataSet1'."

Steps that might resolve this issue:

    • Double-check the connection string and credentials used for your dataset. Make sure you have access to the source database and the credentials are correct.

    • Test the query in your data source (e.g., SQL Server Management Studio) to ensure it runs successfully outside of the report.

    • Open your RDL file in Power BI Report Builder, and check for any parameters or dataset fields that might not be mapped or populated correctly.

    • Ensure that your dataset query does not contain syntax errors and matches the schema of your data source.

    • If you are using stored procedures, make sure the required parameters are supplied and default values are set where appropriate.

    • If you have recently changed the underlying database schema (e.g., renamed columns, tables, or procedures), update your dataset query in the report to reflect those changes.

    • Try to refresh your dataset fields in Report Builder:

      • Go to the dataset properties, click "Query Designer," and refresh fields to sync with the latest schema.

    • Make sure the Power BI Report Builder and Power BI Service are updated to the latest versions, as some features and bug fixes may not be present in older versions
