Hi @Aartibhilare ,

Thank you for your response regarding the issue with page breaks after each date. As you mentioned, after adding page breaks, they don't seem to work as intended.

To address this, I created a sample dataset and implemented your issue. I was able to succeed in demonstrating the problem. Please refer to the images which I  attached below for clarification.

vtsaipranay_1-1735277645421.png

  • Click on Tablix properties and select add page after.

vtsaipranay_2-1735277739630.png

vtsaipranay_3-1735277776097.png

  • Now come back to start date, right click and open row group and group properties.

vtsaipranay_4-1735277811780.pngvtsaipranay_5-1735277828816.png

  • The output which I got after adding the steps look into below images as page break after each start date.

Aartibhilare_0-1735507397913.pngAartibhilare_1-1735507431624.png

I have created the multi column paginated report where in report properties the number of column is 3.

Aartibhilare_2-1735507612280.png

the solution which you suggested works in better way if columns set to 1. but for columns 3 its not working as expected.

Let me know if you still nee further  clearification on same

Hi @v-tsaipranay

i created the subreport in it but its breaking just column

like as below

any thoughts on this?

Aartibhilare_0-1735612826415.png

Hello @Aartibhilare,

We really apologies for the delay in response as I can understand from the given details that the issue is that when you apply a page break, it works fine with a single-column report but doesn't work correctly with multi-column reports. Instead of starting a new page when the group is broken, it just breaks within the existing columns, leading to formatting issues.

As from my experience below are some possible reasons for your issue:

  1. In Power BI, multi-column reports arrange data horizontally. When you add a page break within a group, it should move the data to the next page. But with multiple columns, Power BI may treat the page break as a column break instead of a page break.
  1. In Power BI paginated reports, Tablix controls (tables/matrices) use row and column grouping. These groupings need to be set up correctly to ensure page breaks happen at the end of a group, not at random column breaks.

Please follow the below troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

  • First, we must review the row grouping and page break settings in the Tablix properties. Right-click on the row or column group, select Group Properties, and check the "Page break after" option under the Page Breaks tab to ensure breaks occur after each group.
  • Since you mentioned that the solution works with 1 column, consider using portrait orientation (single-column layout) for reports with page breaks. If a multi-column report is necessary, ensure that the width of the report is sufficient to fit all columns across a page.
  • Ensure the Tablix has the correct width settings. A report too wide may conflict with page breaks. Also, check the column settings to ensure data wraps properly and doesn't spill into the next column.
  • Adjust the number of columns and spacing settings in Report Properties to prevent overlap when page breaks occur. Consider setting the report to one column and applying page breaks before switching back to multi-column format.
  • Ensure the page size and margins are correct in the Report Properties to fit the content and prevent issues with page breaks. Set the height and width of the report pages for proper placement of breaks.

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out.

Hi @v-tsaipranay

I am currently using the power bi paginated report ( reporter builder)

I just remove sub report and created one single report for everything like below

Aartibhilare_0-1735861589911.png

1) i break the page between the two instance of group  like below by date but its breaking only column when we have the multi column configure where as for single column its working just fine

Multi column

Hi @Aartibhilare,

We really apologize for the delay in response, as we have connected with our internal experts regarding the issue and as per the Microsoft document it is clear that “Page breaks are ignored on the column groups” .

Hi @Aartibhilare ,

Thank you for your question regarding the page break issue in your multi-column paginated report.

Basically, page breaks can be added to paginated reports in the following three ways.

  • Adding page breaks to a data area
  • Adding page breaks to rectangles
  • Adding page breaks to groups of rows in a table, matrix or list.

In response to your query, please follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  • Right-click on the group in your report and select Group Properties.Under Page Breaks, check "Between each instance of a group" to ensure each group starts on a new page.
  • Make sure your report layout can accommodate multiple columns. Adjust the height of the data sections so that they fit properly and do not break into a new column prematurely.
  • Ensure there are no overlapping elements (like merged cells or text boxes) in your report that might be interfering with the page breaks.
  • Preview your report to verify that page breaks work correctly and maintain the multi-column format.
  • If you still encounter issues, you might want to adjust the page size or orientation in the report settings for a better fit.

These steps should help resolve the issue with page breaks in your report.
