Hello,

I have ghost columns that are created when I export to Excel in Power BI Report Builder, how can I avoid this?

Best regards

Hi @ccbpce69 ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.

In Report Builder, even when everything looks aligned in the designer, the Excel renderer works off exact coordinates. If any object differs even slightly in Left position or Width, Excel will introduce an extra ghost column.

In your case, the issue is likely coming from a small mismatch between the tablix and other elements, commonly a standalone textbox like the execution date or from the overall body width exceeding the page width when margins are included. Hidden or overlapping items can also cause this.

Make sure all report items line up exactly at the property level (same Left and Width values, not just visually), ensure the tablix columns sum precisely to the tablix width and verify that Body Width + Left/Right Margins ≤ Page Width. Also, align any standalone textboxes perfectly with the tablix or place them inside it.

If I misunderstand your needs or you still have problems on it, please feel free to let us know.

Hi @ccbpce69 ,

Please adjust the width of the Body, Header, Tablix so it all align.
