PBIX won't open

Good day,

After a reinstalation procedure of windows 10, my Power BI Desktop doesn't open any of my PBIX files anymore. I keep getting the error message:

I have uninstalled the previous version of Power BI Desktop and installed the latest one, but it didn't work.

The error message says it couldn't open a xml file saved in local drive. Does that mean your pbix file is using some xml file saved in local drive?

Not that I'm aware of. What appears to me is that it's generated by the PBI itself.

      It goes like this:

      1) I click to open any of my PIBXs

      2) I get the messagem:

      3) A folder (that didn't exist before the attempt to open the PBIX) is created (at C:\Users\marcio.bomfim\Microsoft\Power BI Desktop Store App\AnalysisServicesWorkspaces\AnalysisServicesWorkspace_8b1f8dd8-6226-46d8-9647-38750efd99ce\Data)

      4) Inside the folder d82ff(...) there's this matadata file:

      Whitch contains:

  • Hi MarcioBomfim ,

What is the connection mode of your PBIX file? Can you open Power BI Desktop? Can this PBIX file be opened in Power BI Service or in another computer?

Have you deleted all the old folder under apps? If the old folder still exist, please try removing all the Power BI Desktop completely and reinstalling it.

    Best Regards,

    Jianbo Li

Hey, v-jianboli-msft , thanks for tryingo to help me.

      My answers in bold:

What is the connection mode of your PBIX file? Import

Can you open Power BI Desktop? Yes

Can this PBIX file be opened in Power BI Service or in another computer? Yes, they will open in Power BI Service, but they don’t access the database anymore, since I used Import method. I didn’t try another computer. I would share some examples, but I don’t have a Pro License.

Have you deleted all the old folder under apps? Yes

If the old folder still exist, please try removing all the Power BI Desktop completely and reinstalling it. Done, Already.

I was having trouble with my connection to the Oracle Database via VPN, but this has been solved minutes ago. Yet, the error messages are the same, so it was not a problem with the database connection.
