Helper IPBID sign in
I use power BI desktop version 64 bit November build 2025 at home for personal use and can't sign in because I don't have a office or school email as required by PBID, is there any way to get around this requirement and what other options are available to sign into PBID [ Gmail and outlook mail are classified as personal and rejected]

I had to create a free account at azure.microsoft.com and got a primary domain.. username.onmicrosoft.com with a Microsoft entra id free license, and then created a new user [email protected] and was able to sign into PBID

Hi iruobe19 ,
You should be able to do most of the development work without signing in. You only need to sign in if you need additional visuals from AppSource or need to use the Power BI service to host and share reports.
If it keeps prompting you sign in, it could be due to some preview feature acting up. Last time I saw this issue in someone's machine was when they had Transalytical task flow preview feature and Save to OneDrive and Sharepoint turned on (Go to File>Options and Settings>Options>Preview features and then uncheck them and reopen Power BI Desktop).

Also, check these two out:
Developer program: https://developer.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/dev-program (It gives you a E5 subscription email to play with in a sandbox environment, but it has been tight these days. For me, it says I am not qualified, but try your luck)
Another is getting an Azure free account from here https://azure.microsoft.com/free/ but requires credit card verification.

Hi,
No, there is no supported way to sign in to Power BI Desktop using a personal email (Gmail / Outlook.com).
You can still:
Build models
Create visuals
Write DAX
Save PBIX files locally
But you cannot:
Publish to the Service
Use Fabric, Direct Lake, or Service-based semantic models
Access OneLake, Warehouses, or SQL endpoints
This is suitable only for local-only learning.

You cannot sign in to Power BI Desktop using personal email (Gmail / Outlook.com).
Power BI requires a work or school (Microsoft Entra ID) account.
Your options:
Use Power BI Desktop without signing in
✔ Build reports, models, DAX
✖ Cannot publish or use Power BI ServiceCreate a free Microsoft Entra ID (recommended workaround)
Sign up at azure.microsoft.com (Free account)
Get a domain like: username.onmicrosoft.com
Use that account to sign in to PBID
