PBI Desktop hangs while loading on versions after May 2022

H folks.  When I make a change to my import or when I refresh, PowerBI Desktop hangs during the load (says loading data ...) .

My files work fine on the May 2022 version (2.105.1143.0 64-bit).  But if I move to any later version, including September 2022, then the above hang occurs.

I am working from a home office.  One of my files pulls data from a remote MySQL server.  The other file pulls data from a Web Service via an API.  Both exhibit the same behavior, hanging for the later versions, working for May 2022.

I am running Windows 11 V22H2 (Build 22621.746)

I would appreciate any pointers!  Thanks.

  • Hi, johnbartlett19 ;

    Do you only have specific files pending later or all files?
    Can you share the following screenshot?

  • Hi Yalan thanks for the follow-up.

    Just now I opened the latest version through the Microsoft Store.  I tried to refresh one table ('Users') which has 1824 rows.  This file is pulled from a web service (ServiceNow) via the API.  Power BI Desktop hangs up with 'loading'.  I will attach a screenshot.  I then tried another table 'Age _Bands' which is a static table I created in Power Query (no external database or API required), and Power BI Desktop hangs in the same way.  I then went to the versionfrom May 2022 and tried the same two refresh operations again and both were successful.
