PBI Desktop and external tables

Hi,   I have started to play with dataflows as we have a table that has in excess of 36m rows of  data which I need to analyse.   Can Power BI query external tables that are not in the PBIX file ...

Hi Anonymous 

I make a test as below:

I have a pbix which gets data from an excel file,

Now i want to get data from SQL Server into this pbix,

As my pbix or SQL Server data is large, so i connect to SQL Server from Power BI in direct query mode.

Finally, i create a Dual Storage Mode pbix.
