PBI Desktop Can't load semantic model
Good Day All,
I am having a frustrating issue that I seem to not be able to fix, that is driving me up a wall. I am a free user and I have some semantic models that has been in my workspace (the free personal one) since 2021 I tried to tinker around again in pbi desktop however I got the following message when I tried to load from the One lake data hub:
The error message is too long to post here but basically its saying it can't connect. Now I thought it was just the models were too old or something however when I made a new semantic model to test it out I got the same error message that is not allowing me to connect to the data as well.
I do note in most of my models they display the following:
except for one model that shows the following:
Ironically this is the only data set that I can connect with from the one lake data hub on PBI desktop.
Please if anyone has experience with this issue please let me know what I am doing wrong and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Ok so an update I found this link which details the problem: Known issue - Semantic models in Desktop sometimes fail in March 2024 and later versions - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
However this solution makes no sense, one would think they would fix this issue by now as I find it hard to believe that I am logged in as the semantic models owner and still cant access the files. Was there any hard fix to this?

Hi, CrimsonFox242
Problem shown as resolved on 7/18. My desktop version: 2.131.1126.0 64-bit (July 2024) and PPU licenses. The semantic model connected to my workspace worked.
If your problem is not solved, what is your test environment like?

Good Day,
Sorry for the delayed reply but I still can't connect to the semantic models that are on the service. Even the newest semantic model I published can't connect. For some odd reason I can't connect to my semantic models in my service workspace from the desktop version. This is the personal my workspace environment btw. Is there something preventing free users from connecting to the service from the desktop version? I am using the July 2024 build so the up to date one I believe from the site.

To be more succinct the models were published to PBI a while back, they were made from excel CSV files and used as a basis for a report. I would like to use the semantic models as a basis for another report but its not letting me due to the error. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT:
Please also note that the semantic model in question is still in my workspace (the free one) and since I am the owner I fail to see how I would not have access to my own model.

I was trying some fixes and still nothing works, for some reason I can't connect to my published semantic models in the PBI service like even if I create a new semantic model it will not let me connect to it. Has anyone else have this problem and if so please help it handicaps my data analysis project.
