Ordering the stacked column from smallest to the largest

Hi,

I checked if this question has been asked before but couldn't find a similar one.

So I have a chart like below. Its similar to the total number of items sold through different websites.

The stacked chart is picking up name of the websites in asceding order and I understand this is the best way to do the comparision when you compare the sales for a period. But is it possible to order this based on the smallest sold count to the largest? So it will be like in the bottom it starts with saffron, light blue, dark blue, pink, yellow, and then the more orders one.

Thanks a lot!

Hi @niv_qrm

Do you mean in each column, sort stacks from the smallest one at bottom to the largest one on top? If so, the current stacked column chart doesn't support this feature. There are several similar ideas about this requirement that you can vote up:

Microsoft Idea  · Support for sorting column series in stacked column and combo charts by the column...

Microsoft Idea  · Ability to sort the individual stacks within a stacked bar chart

Microsoft Idea  · Custom order of legends in stacked column chart

One workaround is to create a separate measure for each category in the bar.

Then on the stacked bar visual add the measures in the values section only (with the order you want) and leave the legend section empty.
