Ordering by month name

Hi,

I have a date table which I'm using in my report. It contains columns for month number and month name. I've used the month name in my report but it sorts in alphabetical order. Is there any way I can get it to show in month order? If there's some way I can make use of the month nmber column but keep it hidden that would work fine.

Thanks

Paul

Hi @runnerpaul

1. In PBI desktop select the Date tab (menu bar on the left side of the screen)

2. Select your period table

3. Select your month name column

4. On the modeling tab select "Sort By Column" in the top menu and pick your month number column.

Thanks sdjensen

@runnerpaul if you want to learn about features in PBI Desktop I would stongly suggest that you read through the Update Blog there is even videos showing new features in action.

Sort by column was shown in the May 2015 update.
