Oracle Database Connection to PowerBi - Installed ODAC software but still getting error message

Hello,

I am trying to connect an Oracle Database to PowerBi desktop and am continuing to recieve the following error message after installing the recommended ODAC software from Oracle: "The recommended provider ('Oracle.DataAccess.Client') is not installed. You can continue with your current provider, however it has been deprecated and may not work properly."

I am using PowerBi Desktop x64 December 2019 update and installed the 64bit XCopy version of ODAC 12.2.0.1.0 from https://www.oracle.com/database/technologies/odac-downloads.html as directed by https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-connect-oracle-database#installing-the-oracle-clie....

Has anyone experienced this problem after following the recommended instructions and know of any way to resolve?

Thanks!

I am having the same issue after I updated the Power BI Desktop to December 2019 version.

Before the update everything worked.

Same here.  No issues for almost a year.  Updated my Desktop and Gateway versions in Dec 2019, and have not been able to reconnect to Oracle since.  I have had about a dozen troubleshooting sessions with support, without resolution.  It is extremely frustrating.  Especially since there are multiple places that list different ODAC versions to install, or require you to do manual installations of drivers via command prompts.  Ugh.

I went back to use November 2019 version.  I tried to install ODAC many times and did not work.  did you resolve the issue?

I have not.  I uninstalled and reinstalled everything that I could possibly think of.  Yesterday, I even had our IT Security Team to a factory reset on my tower (I was in the middle of a huge reporting redesign project when I lost access).
