One catch all slicer
Forgive me, I'm still new to Power BI. I've done some surfing & searching but have been unsuccessful. My end goal is to have one slicer where I can select year (and possibly quarter & month).
I have 3 excel sheets that I'm importing into BI. (I am successful on importing & creating graphs.) One sheet has total hours worked for the year for each employee, another has all scrap records (cost of quality), and the third has all closed work orders. The total hours worked just has a year, while each scrap record and closed work order has a full date on each line.
Again, I'd like to have one catch-all slicer with a list of years (and possibly quarter/month) that affects the graphs accordingly. For some reason, I'm not seeing where to attach a file. But I inserted screenshots below. They are highly edited, due to ITAR confidentiality. I have tens of thousands of rows on the scrap/cost of quality and closed work order sheets.CLOSED WO TABCOST OF QUALITY TABHOURS WORKED TAB
I found the answer to my own question in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2t7l8b1uWU
The 10-12 minute mark is where the answer lies. I used the calendar function and made the appropriate relationships between my tables. So I now have one slicer that reads dates from all data sources.
Funny thing is, I was just practicing/studying a bit. Not expecting to find an answer to my question!
