HI friends,
I have a data warehouse built in sql server 2014 using window server 2012 OS, so i have installed the on-primes gateway on the server to connect to SQL Server, but when i push a power bi file to power bi cloud, i was unable to use the on-primes gateways, instead of that, i have to install a personal gateway on my laptop and use it to refresh data.
when i open the dataset in power bi cloud, i dont see my on-primes gateway, just only the personal gateway.
Could any help me?
I also attached 2 images: manage gateways and setting for my dataset !
Thanks,
J.
@MichaelJackpbi I could be wrong here, but based on your screen shots it looks like you installed the gateway but didn't add the SSAS data source... You need to add the data source to the gateway in order for it to be recognized and used. You may have done this, but you did such a thorough job snapshoting, i would assume you would have shown us the data source you set up...
@Seth_C_Bauer Hi,
Power bi desktop connects directly to SQL Server because i am using 2 data sources for my org, first is SQL Server and second is Oracle, the main data warehouse was based on Oracle, i just get further records from SQL Server and the most time i will get data from Oracle. I dont understand why i have to add SSAS data source? Could u help me to explain something about this way? May i connect directly to SQL Server and Oracle to refresh data?
Thank you so much!
Best regards,
J.
@MichaelJackpbi urgh.. sorry. I must have mis-read. You don't need SSAS for what you are doing. First, make sure you have both data sources in the on-premises data gateway as data sources that match exactly to the connections you are usin gin the Desktop. Baring that, as long as you are importing the data into the Desktop - this should work.
Please make sure you’ve installed the latest version of on-premises data gateway by following the article provided by ankitpatira. You can first uninstall the gateway already installed and then follow the steps to install it again.
Best Regards,
Herbert
@MichaelJackpbi Go through this article to ensure you've installed and configured data gateway correctly becuase you should be able to see gateway in power bi service if it is running. Also ensure account you use to configure gateway is same account as you use for power bi service.
