Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Dear community,

 

Our business users are getting the following error code when opening the power bi desktop file from network drive. Does anyone of you have encountered this issue before ?

@Anonymous - Make sure that the version of Power BI that the business users have matches the version of Power BI that the report was created in. All all users seeing this or just some?

 

You could check the Issues forum here:

https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues

And if it is not there, then you could post it.

If you have Pro account you could try to open a support ticket. If you have a Pro account it is free. Go to https://support.powerbi.com. Scroll down and click "CREATE SUPPORT TICKET".

@Anonymous , open a power bi with a file and check the version in the File menu.

It should be the August 2020 version.

There are some know issues in the initial version of August 2020  -check at https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/idb-p/Issues

What is the version of Power BI business users are using.

To check go to Help --> About

Update to the latest Aug-2020 release and you will not get this error.

The user have already installed the latest version of Power BI yet the issue persist

I would recommend you to go for a support ticket for further analysis.
