ODBC Connection to Excel Workbooks
Hello everyone!
My Power BI datasource is currently a ODBC connection. I am trying to remove that connection and would like to add excel workbooks as my data source. I keep on running into an error, where I cannot remove this connection at all. I would like to keep my report as it is and only change the data. How can I make this transition from ODBC to Excel Workbooks?
Hi vishbabariya - You cannot “remove” an ODBC connection directly if it is still being referenced by Power Query queries, the data model, or parameters.
To keep the report unchanged and only swap the data source, you must redirect the existing queries, not delete them.
For each table
Select the query
Open Advanced Editor
Replace only the Source = Odbc.DataSource
Please let me know if any more details required.
