I have a dataset that uses direct query fact tables as well as imported aggregate tables. I am now working to create reports off of the dataset now that it is published in the service. From Power BI desktop using the dataset as my data source, when I add numeric fields with default aggregation of sum visual no aggregation is performed.
In model view I can see the fields are correctly set up. Power BI understands that aggregation should be applied to the lbl_units and Net Sales Amt fields. However when added to the table visual these values are returned as a list of values. I do not have the option to change aggregation on the field once it is added to the visual. Under the modeling tab the fields are set to summarize by Sum. See images below.
There is an aggregation table related to this table, however I do not feel that would have anything to do with this. I have other models set up exactly the same way and this has never been an issue.
Is there a setting in Power BI Desktop, Preview or GA, that would cause this behavior?
@AlexisOlson Thankyou for your note. Yes we are using calculation groups in our models. I am working on a new model and did not realize that Calcultion groups are now available in PBI Desktop and the implementation broke implicit measures. Thanks for sharing.
Do you have any calculation groups?
If yes, then the answer may be related to a recent change in the calculation group authoring experience. See here:
