Good morning all,

Hope everyone is well. I'm looking to learn of some good online resources that I can read to play with PowerBI.

I've got the ability to connect to a MRP called Progress-Plus SQL server which has a test data section which I'm using to connect to.

By the looks of the tables it's got the raw information that I need however it looks like i'm going to need to create some additional columns which can then calculate profit in both a value and % BUT i'm not very familiar with creating formulas in BI expecially when the data I need is currently across a few different (but linked) tables.

Ideally I'd like to create a new table where I've been able to cherry-pick colunmes from the existing tables and then create a nice table that way.

So ... if anyone can point me in the direction of some things I can read I'd really appreicate it.

Thanks

Rich

hi @RTBennett

First, I think you need to have a learn how to use power bi, please refer to these document:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/power-bi-creator-landing

Second, for your case, if you want to create a new table, you could use DAX to create a new table:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-calculated-tables

and you may need to learn the dax first:

https://www.tutorialspoint.com/dax_functions/dax_functions_quick_guide.htm

If you still have problem, you could share some sample data and your expected output, I can help you further.
