Hi,
I have a column called Event Type and its the only column that contains the date of the Bill we get. However it contains text before it eg "Azure Monitor (April 2023) "
How do i duplicate the column and use only the Date Part so I can use it as date column?
Solved! Go to Solution.
You can duplicate the column in Power Query, then split on specific characters (assuming it's consistent) to leave the date, then transform that field to a date type. In your example, I would split on the last "(" and again on the last ")" to get the date, then change the type to date in the UI. It will recognize April 2023 as something that can be a date when it transforms and make it the first of the month.
Cant do that as the dates are different eg April 2023, August 2023
It'd work for any month, April was just an example. The change type in PQ can recognize dates formatted with the month name and year.

Actually thats a good call, i managed to do it with another column that only has the same amount of characters, thank you!
