New table from slicer

HI,

I have one table T1 (with 10 columns an one colum is call INC ) .

I create a slicer with this column INC .

I need to create a new table T2 with the sames columns like T1 but without the chosen rows in the slicer. This T2 Table should be phisical in order to create new formulas and do EXCEPT function with DAX.

Thanks

Hi
The main idea to do this is because I have a Dash with graphic and formulas from a Tabla 1 and the idea is to EXCLUED one o many values from de graphics (column INC in Tabla 1) and then I need to automatically recalculate all the formulas and graphics again withourt this excluded values from slicer

Hi @Anonymous

Lets try whether we can find another way. But to do that I would need some sample data, a picture of the data model (relevant tables only) incl. columns and relations and the expected result.

Best regards

Michael

Hi Mike ,

let me explain in the simple way.

I have a table Table1

I need to create a slicer with the INC column from Table 1

Then If I select from the slicer any INC from the Table 1 (not only one) I need to create a new Table (Table2 ) with only the 2 INC selected

cvalarcon_1-1669660870096.png

Now the Idea is to have a Table 3 without these 2 INC values, this step should be in DAX (EXCEPT funtion)    due to I need to re calculate all formulas and grafics witohit the values selected in the slicer.

All tables are not related

Hi @Anonymous

I totally get what you explain. But why the heck to you nieed a thrid physical table. WHy not filtering it logically and doing calculations on top? as I said, physical table won't work. SO what calculation do you want to do on table 3?

Best regards

Michael

Hi Mike

This is an example of measure that I need to re calculate with the new rows (in a new table or not)

FILTER(INCIDENTNUMBER) =
VAR PERIODOMINIMO = CALCULATE(MAX(CALENDARIO[Date]), DATEADD((CALENDARIO[Date]),-2,MONTH))
VAR PERIODOMAXIMO = CALCULATE(MAX(CALENDARIO[Date]))
RETURN
CALCULATE(SELECTEDVALUE(DatosWebCenter[Incident Number]),  KEEPFILTERS(DatosWebCenter[Fecha_ID] >= PERIODOMINIMO && DatosWebCenter[Fecha_ID] < PERIODOMAXIMO), ALL(CALENDARIO))

As you can see there is a name of the actual table (DatosWebCenter) in the CALCULATE funct. so in order to re calculate this measure I need a new table to recalculate this o is not necesary ?
The same situation with graphics
Many thanks

HI @Anonymous

I here the first time that you NEED to calculte another physical table before you get the result. In a measure you can calculate Table as a variable and then reuse the variable to do your further calculations.

Instead of speaking about the measure you already build can you please explain the business problem? I see we have a list of incidents. What do you want to calculate and how do you want to visualize it?

Best regards

Michael

Hi Mike, sorry for the delay.

Instead of doing another table I have the solution with the slicer with all Select values .

When I need to "select" a value in order to exclude it, I deselect one/any values and all Dash will be re calculated.

Now I need to put in better way the slicer in order to create a table with all the selected values.

Thanks

@Anonymous

Can you please elaborate why you need a new physical table for additional calculations? WHy can it not be a logical table in a measure where you put calculations on top?

Best regards

Michael

Hi @Anonymous

Unfortunately this should not be possible because the physical tables of the Power BI data model are created and updated during the report refresh and not by interacting on the report/vizualisation layer (like with slicers).

Best regards

Michael
