New card tooltip page help

I created a tooltip page which is a line chart and I unchecked the "keep all filters" so that it shows all dates. Then in a report page i have a new card visual with a measure as value called it "measureA", and in the cards property I added the tooltip and when hovered it shows the trend line chart.

 In the same report page I have a table  with measureA and couple of other columns as categories. When I select a row in the table it filters the card visual to show the total for that category.

however, the trend line chart shows all categories when I hover over the card visual, even though I have a row selected in the table visual and the new card visual value is filtered based on measureA vale in that row. Any workaround for this issue? Other than adding that same tooltip page to the table visual....

  • Hi Jason290, this behavior is expected because when you uncheck Keep all filters on the tooltip page, the tooltip ignores all filters from the main report page, including the category filter applied when you select a row in the table. That's why your line chart shows all categories instead of the selected one.

    Instead of relying on page filters, create a measure like the one below for the line chart that returns values only for the selected category. This way, the chart will show all categories when nothing is selected, but only the chosen one when a row is selected and you don't have to re-enable the Keep all filters option.

    TooltipValue =
    VAR SelectedCat = SELECTEDVALUE ( 'YourCategoryTable'[Category] )
    RETURN
    IF (
        ISBLANK ( SelectedCat ) || SelectedCat = 'YourCategoryTable'[Category],
        [YourMeasure],
        BLANK ()
    )
