New Snowflake Connector Directquery Anything with Relationship doesn't work
Hello,
I understand it's a preview feature but I'm trying to see how much faster the new Snowflake connector with ADBC would be compared to the old connector. My use case is for directquery but as soon as I include data from multiple tables (I have a simple example with one dimension and one fact) I get the error OLE DB or ODBC Error We couldn't fold the expression to the data source, please try a simpler expression.
Is anyone else running into this issue right now? Am I doing something wrong maybe that I can fix?
I'm not using any dax just implicit measure of an amount and a dimensional attribute in a table visual.

We understand you're experiencing the error "OLE DB or ODBC error: [Expression.Error] We couldn't fold the expression to the data source" when using the new Snowflake connector with ADBC in DirectQuery mode with multiple tables in a table visual with an implicit measure and attribute.Since the new Snowflake connector with ADBC is in preview, its multi-table relationship support in DirectQuery mode may not be fully developed.
Meanwhile, consider the below steps:
- Verify the "New Snowflake connector implementation" is enabled in Power BI Desktop and set DirectQuery mode when connecting to Snowflake.
- Create a minimal test case by connecting to Snowflake, selecting dimension and fact tables, and defining relationships in the model.
- Check query folding by right-clicking each step in Power Query Editor; if "View Native Query" is grayed out, folding may not be supported.

AJWBMI I haven't tested the new connector and am also not sure what is supposed to do, very little information is available. I'm working on a very large project that includes Snowflake and Power BI, and I'm sure some point of time this new connector is going to play the role but for now, I'm not sure what it is and what value it is going to add. Hope someone with more experience on it will chime in.
