New Column in source file not updating in powerbi

I added a new column in the source csv file (sharepoint), and when performed refresh data in power bi, alll data is getting updated except this new column.

Can someone pls guide what can be done to get the new column added as well.

Thanks

Go to Advance editor, in the line "source = csv.document" you must be having one parameter for column for example column = <some value>, so could you please try to increase its number based on column numbers or try to set it as null. Hope it should fix your problem.

Hi @gauravg3 ,

Have you removed any column in Power Query?

Thanks,

Samarth

Hi Samarth,

I haven't made any changes in power query. There is an existing custom column, which is there before adding the new column in source file.

Thanks

@gauravg3 , If you refreshing on services then it will not work. Actually It will only fetch the data from previous source it will not add a new columns. For any metadata changes or structural changes, you have to refresh it in Power BI Desktop and then publish it.

Samarth

I've tried refreshing in PowerBI desktop as well, still no luck.

@gauravg3 , Hope we have already verified source path as well to check we are refreshing the correct file?

Samarth

yes, I've verified the source file, and replicated this in a separate report as well and getting the same issue.

Go to Advance editor, in the line "source = csv.document" you must be having one parameter for column for example column = <some value>, so could you please try to increase its number based on column numbers or try to set it as null. Hope it should fix your problem.
