Hi Power Bi community,
I installed standard on premises Data gateway on my primary device and successfully made the connection with my MySQL Database.
Connection is successfull and I am able to refresh the report from the Power bi service.
I have a secondary device and i have installed the New data gateway without adding the device to the data gateway cluster and when i enter the database credentials to create the connection it get connection Error.
I have installed the MySQL connectors and i also tried creating connection to the database directly from the MySQL the connection is successfull no issue at the Database side.
the Error that i get is
Session Id: 0fc89624-a973-4205-811c-ddb7eddb4c73
RequestId: 5898261c-549c-4de0-b521-1b7c93ab1312
Cluster URI: https://api.powerbi.com Status code: 400
please help.
Thanks & regards,
Ibrahim
Since you've installed MySQL connectors and tested direct database connections successfully, the issue likely isn't with the database itself. However, double-check that the version of the MySQL connector on your secondary device is compatible with both the on-premises data gateway and your MySQL database version.
Check if there are any firewall or network configuration differences between your primary and secondary devices that might be blocking the gateway connection. For guidance on configuring your gateway based on firewall and network requirements.

Use the on-premises data gateway app | Microsoft Learn
Since you mentioned not adding the secondary device to the data gateway cluster, consider whether adding it might resolve the issue. Each gateway in a cluster can provide high availability or load balancing for data queries. For more information on managing gateway clusters, please visit:

Hi @Anonymous ,
Thank you for the response.
I will check if there is any firewall setting that is blocking the data gateway from connecting to the database.
I want to keep both the devices separately with new data gateway on each device. so I don't want to add the secondary device to the data gateway cluster.
Have you solved your problem? If so, can you share your solution here and mark the correct answer as a standard answer to help other members find it faster? Thank you very much for your kind cooperation!
